Founded in 2017 by Juan Carlos Gómez Jr., Estrategia Norteña blends Mexican roots with English-language influence, reinventing norteña sax for a modern and diverse audience, and establishing themselves as a staple of the genre’s new era.

Their journey began with the EP Una Probadita  (2019), followed by the bold and experimental F5 (2021). In 2023, they reached a breakthrough moment with their debut album Eros, earning more than 250k streams within the first 24 hours of its release.

Estrategia Norteña  also experienced brief stints with two of the most prominent labels in the genre—Azteca Records and Elegante Records. While at Elegante Records, they released some of their most recognized hits, including telepatía (64M+ TikTok views), golden hour (16M+ TikTok views), and ASTROS. Though these projects achieved viral success, the band ultimately chose to return to independence, determined to keep full creative control and continue building their sound on their own terms.

Now fully independent, Estrategia Norteña continues to grow its global audience with a lineup featuring Juan Carlos Gomez Jr. (saxophone), Ozzy Mendez (vocals), Johnny Magaña (accordion), Jaasai Magaña (bajo quinto), Oscar Gonzalez (drums), Ángel Maldonado (bass), and Ariel Gomez (percussion). Together, they deliver a sound that bridges generations staying true to tradition while pushing the genre into new territory.
